Bio

I grew up on the eastern edge of the Palliser Triangle where my parents farmed a few miles from the bustling small town of Fillmore. It is here that my first impressions of the land and how we live upon it were formed. My father was a farmer and had a deep appreciation for the land and the intricate web of life that is all around us.

I attended University of Regina in a self directed program, I studied Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Engineering Design and Computer Science. I worked on a ranch for the summers taking care of cattle, and then moved to Toronto to work in computer related jobs.

I studied climate sciences and became involved in the environmental movement. I came to understand that humanity is at a cross roads and that our collective destiny now depends on how well we understand and treat the planet’s resources – its lands, oceans, diversity and it’s people. Co-hosting a radio program on transportation issues became a passion of mine and I interviewed authors such as John Bacher who wrote Petrotyranny – “an analysis of the global oil establishment and its implications for us all ”.

I joined in critical mass rides trying to establish lanes and better rights for cyclists. In this group I came to know activists and ordinary folks, politicians and pundits. Tooker Gromberg, Kelly Green – who later moved to Craik; Jack Layton and his wife Olivia, Dan Egan of the City Cycling committee, people who inspired me with their commitment to bring awareness of the need to awaken our intuition and connection to this beautiful planet we all share

I came back to Saskatchewan in an active role in sustainable building practices while keeping a focus on issues that relate to our health and wellbeing. Having grown up in a rural area, I was not exposed to fluoride as a child and was surprised that Saskatoon still engaged in this practice. I have written articles and started a website FluorideAction.ca to help raise awareness about what artificial fluoridation does to our bodies, and to our rivers where this industrial waste product ends up.

It was through this avenue that I came into contact with the Green Party of Saskatchewan and stepped up to become a candidate for Saskatoon Centre.

It is my hope to bring some political diversity to the systems of governance in this province. We have all begun to be aware that resources and natural systems are not infinite, that it is time to begin the first steps towards a relationship with our environment that is wiser and more sustainable and compassionate. There is great hope in exploring renewable energy here in this province. Solar and Wind can provide ever larger supplies of electricity both in small and large applications. There is great hope in connecting to one another in true and heartfelt ways, sharing our collective hopes for now and for generations to come. It is time – to begin.
