I am a Metis born at Doré Lake and raised on a mink ranch/trap line on the north shore of Smoothstone Lake. I was one of eight children and we were one of only five families living an isolated life on the lake. My mother, Christine Roy Durocher, originated from Green Lake and my father, Caribou, from Sled Lake with ties from Beauval, Doré Lake, and Île-à-la-Crosse.
I, like many others, spent time at residential schools but despite this fact, the love and respect of our land and our culture has never left my spirit.
After spending more than 50 years living in the north – commercial fishing, doing construction/roofing jobs, and working away at mines – I made the choice to become a truck driver and now reside in Maidstone, SK, with my wife, an educational assistant, and my thirteen year old daughter. It is our plan to move back to the north to retire.
Growing up, my dad instilled in me the belief that “you only take what you need”. It is this value that attracted me to the Green Party of Saskatchewan. He taught that under no circumstance were you to cross that line for neither fame nor fortune. I have always lived my life by this creed and always will.

I believe that the Green Party of Saskatchewan is the only party that considers the future and quality of life for our children and our planet.
The Green Party of Saskatchewan is strongly opposed to the development of the nuclear industry in Saskatchewan, suggesting in its policies that no money be spent on nuclear power. It calls on the Government to abandon all proposals to develop nuclear programs for Saskatchewan, and would introduce legislation prohibiting the transportation and storage of nuclear waste across the province.
The Green Party of Saskatchewan respects First Nations and Métis people and their culture.
We will not back down from our stand on the nuclear storage and waste issue! This is a life and death situation. We can take a stand or we can leave the message for our children that we didn’t care.
It’s our choice.
