Greens say No More Bullying

For Immediate Release

November 1, 2011

Greens say no more bullying in our society!

If elected to the Legislature on November 7th, the Green Party MLAs would immediately act to introduce Anti-Bullying Legislation and put more community programming funding to prevent the constant re-occurrence of any type of bullying from verbal to cyber in our school grounds and our workplaces. It's time the Provincial government step up and say "NO", to bullying wherever it occurs in Saskatchewan. Too many are being seriously injured or it is ending in true tragedy.

The Anti-Bullying legislation we are proposing is a deterrent from a punishing perspective meaning,"if you do this, you will be fined and charged," but the main position is prevention: to stop the bullying before it occurs, states Lau. The Green Party is proposing more community involvement in coming up with local solutions.

Amanda Huxted who is running in the Swift Current Constituency is challenging all candidates within the province as well as all citizens to stand up to bullying and promise to never use any bullying tactics as they often lead to crimes. "If we as society allow bullying to continue and don't do anything about it then we are guilty of it."

Amanda and her mom, Gail will be out at the Swift Current Mall on Thursday Nov.3, 2011 from 3:00 p.m-9:00p.m for public input on this, if you care and want to make a difference please come join us. Together we can have safer communities.
