Helmi Scott is your Regina Coronation Park candidate for the Green Party of Saskatchewan.
Helmi was born, raised and educated in Alberta. She obtained her BSc (Chem) and MSc (Botany) from the University of Alberta in Edmonton and professional A teaching certificate from the University of Calgary.
Most of her work experience was in Nigeria where she taught among other things education methodology, genetics, ecology, biology and botany. She often took her students into the field for practical experience and was in charge of developing the biological garden at the Federal University of Technology, Yola (FUTY).
Helmi retired in Regina upon her return to Canada in 1994, participating in the YMCA Tutoring Program and volunteering at the Arcola School, the Al Ritchie Family Support Centre and Health Action Centre. She participated in several programs operated by the Anti-Poverty Ministry of Regina and the Anti-Poverty Coalition of Saskatoon.
Helmi has also been an active member of the Regina Citizens’ Public Transit Coalition and is currently involved in organizing the Queen City Tenants Association.
Helmi believes her awareness of social issues and her knowledge of ecology make her a good representative for the residents of Regina Coronation Park.
