Green Party of Saskatchewan

Shawn Setyo's background has prepared him well to be a candidate for the Green Party of Saskatchewan. He was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario to immigrant parents from the Philippines and Indonesia. His father, who works at the Indonesian Consulate, encouraged Shawn from a young age to pursue a career in politics and give back to society while his mother always stressed the importance of sustainable living and ecological values. Shawn is currently studying at the University of Saskatchewan and is completing an undergraduate degree in international studies with a minor in political science.

Shawn is not waiting until after graduation to make a difference in the world. Through the track and field team he has been actively coaching kids and volunteering in many fundraisers. While taking a class on sustainability he realized the seriousness of the problems facing our planet and our province. It was at that point he decided to take action. He joined the Green party and started a Campus Greens Club chapter at the university. Through the campaigning, volunteering and fundraising work he is doing with the Green party of Saskatchewan he hopes to spread awareness amongst his peers and the rest of the student body.

Shawn is convinced that our government must take a different approach if we are to see positive changes in our society. His first hand experiences in Canada's biggest city with pollution, homelessness, and overcrowding have made him determined to do it better in Saskatchewan. With the help of the youth of Saskatchewan our institutions can be changed to bring about what we would like in our society. Shawn's international studies have helped shape his unique vision for Saskatchewan's place on the world stage. By electing Shawn Setyo, progressive, green thinker in the constituency of Saskatoon Eastview we can create a model province for the rest of the country to follow.
