Green Party of Saskatchewan

Vicki Strelioff has lived all of her life in Saskatchewan and therefore, has a strong attachment to the communities and the people living within its borders. She was raised in the Arelee area, the only child in a farming family, and attended school in Perdue. After completing high school, Vicki moved to Saskatoon where she attended the University of Saskatchewan and the Saskatoon Business College. She has been employed by the Saskatoon Health Region since 1989, working at Royal University Hospital and St. Paul's Hospital, where she currently works as a medical transcriptionist in the laboratory. As a mother of a Highland dancer, Vicki is very involved with the Saskatoon Highland Dancing Association and volunteering with the Scottish Pavilion during Folkfest. She is also a leader of the Children's Liturgy program at St. Mary's Church. Vicki and her family are working towards sustainable living by striving to make better choices in ways that move towards lowering their environmental impact. "Changing our patterns of waste is difficult, but we must begin by taking steps in the right direction before it is too late."

Although Vicki is new to the political scene, she has always taken an interest in current issues and has closely followed the decisions of government at all levels. With the present inaction by government to address climate change and continuing the perpetuation of inequality of Canadians across economic and cultural lines, it is apparent that the current system is not working. Because of this, she feels it is time for action and deeper involvement, and therefore, has decided that run as the Green Party candidate in the riding of Saskatoon Riversdale. As a working mother of three, Vicki sees the need to secure the future of her children by protecting the environment and preserving the system of values that we all hold dear to us. "For too long we have turned a blind eye to the abuse of our natural resources and the rights and freedoms of our people. It is time to choose a better way, a Green way, so that all Canadians can look forward to a healthy and sustainable future."
