Dear Mz. Lange,
As a victim of crime myself, I certainly can sympathize with your goals and desire to help those victims in any way possible.
Please feel free to share the attached letter with anyone you wish.
I hope to do more.
As your Premier, I will.

To those who have been affected by Crime,
My name is Victor Lau. I am the Leader of the Green Party of Saskatchewan.
Having read your email about how victims of crime get little to no real satisfaction from the justice system even when the criminals are caught, I was intrigued by your idea.
Your idea of a “No-Fault Victims Compensation” Fund certainly deserves much merit and warrants much attention from any incoming provincial government after November 7th, 2011.
As Leader of the Greens, I can certainly say we support your initiative and upon forming government we would sit down with your group to see how to implement such a wonderful idea.
Our past policy in our Party speaks to victims of crime in many ways.
I will point out just three.
One way is our belief in Restorative Justice. By working with offenders and showing them the harm they have done to our common society and individuals involved, and by working with the traumatized victims to show why this crime might have happened; we hope that healing begins and grievances are resolved.
Another belief we Greens hold dear is the idea of Prevention. If we can, through community programming, decent education funding, and strong initiatives to curb crime before it happens; we will have won the day. No citizen in their right mind would want to be a victim of crime. If programs like the Guaranteed Livable Income (www.livableincome.org) could eliminate poverty, then we should have not only better health outcomes; but surely less crime.
Lastly, the Green Party believes in creating a new form of governing based on Participation. We want all citizens to come together to create the best programs for our society. We want citizen engagement like never before. Truly “power to the people”. Participatory Democracy is what it is called and it will radicalize the way things are done here in Saskatchewan and throughout the world.
All this and more is outlined in our Platform Document entitled “ONE SASKATCHEWAN”.
Together, we can rise up to meet the challenges of the future not as individuals struggling alone, but as united communities that want the best for All our children.
Hoping to Have Earned Your vote,
Victor Lau
Leader
Green Party of Sask.
